Tax & Revenue Reform Task Force

Task Force Goals:

Cook County levies taxes, collects fees and generates revenue from many different sources.  Agencies assess properties and then collect and distribute taxes from individuals and corporations.  The Cook County Assessor and Treasurer play key roles in this process, as do the Cook County Board and the related agencies and property owners and taxpayers in the 133 municipalities within its jurisdiction.  There is much confusion in the system and many inefficiencies.

The task force will address a range of issues including available housing programs, affordable housing, tax collection, tax sales and real estate assessments.

Task Force Progress:

The task force is examining these issues, and it will make initial suggestions addressing the major improvements needed and what actions the Board can take to assist in their enhancement.

Next Meeting:

TBA
