Dissolution of TB Sanitarium District - Resolution

RESOLUTION
 

SPONSORED BY ALL COOK COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

 

RESOLUTION SUPPORTING DISSOLUTION OF SUBURBAN COOK COUNTY

TUBERCULOSIS SANITARIUM DISTRICT

 

WHEREAS, Illinois Senate Bill 2654, as amended, would dissolve the Suburban Cook County Tuberculosis Sanitarium District (“TB District”); and

 

WHEREAS, Illinois Senate Bill 2654, as amended, would transfer the assets and liabilities of the TB District to the Cook County Board; and

 

WHEREAS, Illinois Senate Bill 2654, as amended, would require the Cook County Department of Public Health to assume all responsibility for the prevention, care, treatment and control of tuberculosis within the District; and

 

WHEREAS, Illinois Senate Bill 2654, as amended, provides that the tax base of the dissolved district shall be added to the tax base of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, the Illinois Senate has approved Senate Bill 2654, as amended, and the bill is now before the Illinois House of Representatives for consideration; and

 

WHEREAS, the Cook County Board of Commissioners believes that Illinois Senate Bill 2654, as amended, is in the best interest of the health and welfare of suburban Cook County residents.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby support Senate Bill 2654, as amended, and urges the Illinois House of Representatives to act during this legislative session to pass this legislation; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that suitable copies of this Resolution be delivered to Governor Blagojevich, Senate President Emil Jones, Jr., House Speaker Michael J. Madigan, Senator Frank Watson, Senate Republican Leader, Representative Tom Cross, House Republican Leader and all of Cook County’s duly elected representatives in the General Assembly; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall take effect on the date of its passage and approval.
