Chicago, Illinois. October 17, 2005.  Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin (13th District) wants to remind residents in Rogers Park Township that the Board of Review is currently accepting property tax appeals for 2005 for those property owners who are not satisfied that their assessment is accurate.  The deadline for Rogers Park Township residents to submit appeals to the Board of Review is November 2, 2005.

Residents who did or did not file an appeal previously are encouraged to do so if they think their property was over assessed.  Property owners with questions on the Board of Review appeal process are encouraged to attend Commissioner Suffredin’s Property Tax Appeal Seminar.

Board of Review Property Tax Appeal Seminar
Wednesday, October 26, 2005
6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Evanston Civic Center, Council Chambers

Cook County Board of Review Commissioner Maureen Murphy and her staff will conduct the seminar. The seminar will inform homeowners how to determine whether they were over assessed, where to go to gather evidence for an appeal with the Board of Review and how to fill out and file the assessment complaint form.  Taxpayers are encouraged to bring their Tax Bill, Assessment Notice or Property Identification Number to the seminar in order to complete and submit complaint forms at the seminar.

Residents can also call Commissioner Suffredin’s Evanston District office at 847-864-1209 with questions or to schedule individual appointments to answer questions.  Information on the appeal process can be found on the Board of Review website at www.cookcountyboardofreivew.com.
