Steele warns juvenile managers

Friday, July 28, 2006
Chicago Sun-Times

Interim Cook County Board President Bobbie Steele went to the Juvenile Detention Center Thursday and warned the 27 top managers to treat the juvenile detainees well or forfeit their jobs. In a series of stories starting last year, the Sun-Times detailed allegations of abuse against children, and county officials using the center as a patronage dump. A court-ordered monitor who began inspecting the center two months ago has reported that mismanagement continues.
