Friday, September 22, 2006
Special to suffredin.org

On Saturday, September 30, 2006, I am co-sponsoring a workday at Harms Flatwoods with Commissioner Gregg Goslin and the North Branch Restoration Project in honor of National Public Lands Day.

Harms Flatwoods Workday
Saturday, September 30, 2006
9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M

Directions: Harms Flatwoods is located in Skokie, bounded by Golf, Harms, Old Orchard and Woods Roads; from the Edens expressway, take Old Orchard Road west and turn left on Woods Road.  The workday activities will be in the southeast corner of the area.

National Public Lands Day is the nation’s largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the public lands American’s enjoy.  To learn more about this annual event, please visit www.npld.com.

Our September 30th workday is an excellent opportunity for first time volunteers or experienced Forest Preserve enthusiasts to learn about restoration and land management practices, enjoy beautiful Somme Woods, and to contribute to the community by helping to care for our public land.

Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to join us for as long as they wish to participate. All tools and supplies will be provided.  The workday will be held rain or shine.

To register your participation, please contact Mike Gwinn at 312-603-6383 or by email at mgwinn@suffredin.org.  Student groups are asked to register their participation by September 28th.

Thank you in advance for your support of our Forest Preserves.

Sincerely,

Larry Suffredin
Cook County Commissioner, 13th District
