Suffredin Announces Forest Preserve District Capital Projects in the 13th District

Chicago – Today, the Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners passed the final list of capital projects to be funded with bond proceeds as approved under Senate Bill 83.   “The Board worked very hard to gain approval for Senate Bill 83 which enabled the Forest Preserve District to fund much needed capitol projects across the District,” commented Commissioner Suffredin.    In total, the District was granted $100 million in bond authority.   The Forest Preserve District received $50 million and the Chicago Botanic Garden and Brookfield Zoo each received $25 million.

 

The 13 th District will receive $27,346,000 of the $100 million.   The attached page details the projects to be completed in the 13 th District.   “I am particularly pleased that the Forest Preserve District allocated funds to rebuild the East Diversion Ditch in Glencoe,” said Suffredin.   “The Village of Glencoe and I worked for more than two years to obtain financial support for this project which will help alleviate some of the flooding problems in Glencoe.”

 

Both the Garden and Zoo will also significantly benefit from the capital funds made available under SB83.   The Botanic Garden will now be able to address infrastructure needs that it has had for some time including renovating the education building and reconstructing the north lawn.
