Call for Nominations for the 2009 "UNSUNG HEROINES" AwardSPONSORED BY THE COOK COUNTY COMMISSION ON WOMEN'S ISSUESWednesday, October 01, 2008 Special to suffredin.org
Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin and the Cook County Commission on Women’s Issues invite nominations for the 2009 Unsung Heroine award from the 13th District. Seventeen women - one chosen from each County Board District - will be honored at a ceremony and breakfast during Women’s History month in March at the Chicago Cultural Center.
In recognition of Women's History Month each year, the Cook County Commission on Women's Issues presents the Unsung Heroine Award to 17 women from across Cook County. The selection of these heroines is organized on a district basis to ensure that women from each area of the County are recognized for their contributions to their communities. The members of the Commission on Women's Issues seek community input for the identification of nominees for this award by forming a selection committee. The 13th district selection committee is charged with collecting nominations and selecting an awardee for Commissioner Suffredin's district.
Nominees for the Unsung Heroine Award must be residents of the 13th County Board district. They should be women who, either in a professional or volunteer capacity, have made significant contributions to their community for which they have not received widespread recognition. Elected officials are not eligible for consideration.
The 13th county board district encompasses the areas of Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Kenilworth, Lincolnwood, Morton Grove, Niles, Northbrook, Skokie, Wilmette Winnetka and Chicago’s 49th and 50th Wards).
