are now on the hook for $280,000 to settle patronage claims against
Cook County Recorder of Deeds Eugene Moore and attorneys say the tab
The County Board on Wednesday agreed to pay
$180,000 to three former recorder employees who said they were
improperly laid off so less-experienced workers with political
connections could keep their jobs.
A county attorney said the
county didn't admit liability in any of the cases, and Moore said
politics played no role in the layoffs he implemented in 2007.
Two weeks ago, the county paid $100,000 to settle a similar case with Jan Sudak, Moore's former operations director.
