Commissioner Suffredin Announces Intern ProgramTuesday, June 17, 2003 Special to suffredin.org June 17, 2003, Cook County, Illinois. Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, 13th District, is pleased to announce his new internship program for college students. College students interested in learning about County and local government, public service and community affairs are encourage to apply. All internships are unpaid and interns will be primarily assigned to the Commissioner's District office located in downtown Evanston. Commissioner Suffredin commented, "I am excited to provide an opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge and learn skills that will serve them in their future work." A variety of opportunities exist for interns including working on Forest Preserve District issues, assisting with programming and outreach efforts done in conjunction with local, state and federal elected officials, and working with local residents to address issues of concern. Interested individuals should visit www.suffredin.org/internship.asp or call Hollis Hanover at 312-603-6383 to obtain application guidelines. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis for Summer, Fall and Spring internships. "Working in public service is a rewarding professional career and I look forward to introducing students to this career avenue," commented Commissioner Suffredin.
