Evanston Collecting Flood Disaster Data to Submit to County April 26
Data will be used by State for consideration of Federal Disaster Assistance Funding

Tuesday, April 23, 2013
City of Evanston
by Press Release

The City of Evanston is collecting data from residents and businesses regarding damages they incurred during the April 18 flood. Cook County is in the process of seeking to have the county declared a federal disaster area, which could make funding available to individual property owners who experienced losses in the flood.

Residents are asked to submit their flood damage information to the city no later than 3 p.m. on Friday, April 26 to be submitted to Cook County. This preliminary data will become part of the county's damage assessment to be submitted to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In order to submit data to the federal government, the Cook County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM) has asked all Cook County municipalities, including Evanston, to request that affected residents complete a brief survey about their losses.

The information provided does not determine whether an individual resident might receive federal assistance at a future date. Rather, the information is collected by Cook County to establish that it meets eligibility criteria for federal assistance. If you have experienced property damage and losses, please complete Cook County's preliminary loss survey. To submit your information online relating to the flooding, please click here>>> and fill out the quick survey by 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 26 or call 3-1-1 to submit your information to a Call Center representative.
