Dear President Preckwinkle and the Cook County Board of Commissioners,

It is with mixed emotions that I officially inform you that I will be leaving the Cook County Health & Hospitals System and returning to New York to assume the role of President of the New York City Health & Hospital Corporation. I want to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have extended to me during my tenure here. It has been instrumental in our success in transforming the system and protecting its mission. As we work on a formal transition plan, please know that I remain committed to working with you, the CCHHS Board and the senior leadership team to ensure a smooth transition. Please allow me to personally thank Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle for her unrelenting support since my arrival in Chicago. Time after time, President Preckwinkle put her reputation and political capital on the line to support every initiative we moved forward, not just here in Cook County but also at the state and federal level. Much of what we have accomplished simply would not have been possible without her. The impact and effectiveness of the Cook County Health & Hospitals System Board cannot be understated. The guidance, leadership and commitment of this stellar group of individuals has been critical to our success. As I transition to my new role, closer to my family, please know that I do so with a heavy heart. It has truly been an honor and a privilege to work with each of you. I look forward to the day our paths cross again.

Warmest regards,

Ram Raju, MD, MBA, FACS, FACHE

Chief Executive Officer

Cook County Health and Hospitals System
