Chicago Tribune by Lexy Gross 15 measles cases confirmed so far in Illinois; free vaccinations in Palatine
The Cook County Department of Public Health is offering free
measles vaccinations Friday and March 10 in Palatine.
The vaccination clinic will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church at 630 S. Quentin Road in Palatine from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 10. Department officials said in a release Monday that measles may still be circulating in the northwest suburbs.
The release said residents could have been exposed at three locations:
•LaRosita Laundromat at 1212 E. Dundee Road in Palatine on Feb. 16.
•Vista Health Center or the Northwest Community Resource Center, both at 1585 N. Rand Road in Palatine, on Feb. 19
Fifteen cases have been confirmed so far in Illinois, with 14 of them in suburban Cook County this year, according to the department.
Sean McDermott, spokesman for the Cook County health department, said it's unclear at this point whether there will be more vaccination clinics in response to measles cases.
"There could be, depending on how the outbreak moves forward," he said.
He said the department refers those who do not have a primary care provider to Vista Health Center in Palatine.
