Join us for lots of fun and exploration. Visitors of all abilities are invited to celebrate nature through accessible activities.

Doggy Paddle

Thu., June 4 * 6 - 8 pm

Beck Lake Boat Launch, 1000 N East River Rd, Des Plaines

Spend some time with your pup, enjoy refreshments, and then join us for a special paddle with your furry friend. Dogs and their owners are invited to paddle together.

Little Calumet River Ecology Paddle and Cleanup
Saturday, June 6 * 8 am - 3 pm

Little Calumet Boat Launch, Ashland & Jackson, Riverdale

Help us clean up the river as we paddle down to Kickapoo Woods and back. Learn about aquatic life along the Little Calumet, and how cleaning up the river can help keep these animals healthy. Tools, breakfast snacks and lunch provided. Groups welcome. Register here.

62nd Annual American Indian Pow Wow

Sat., June 6 * 10 am - 7 pm

Sun., June 7 * 10 am - 5 pm

Busse Woods South, Higgins Rd east of I-290, Elk Grove Village This event features Native American dance, drumming, food, art wares and fun. Don't miss traditional dance competitors from all over the country! In partnership with the American Indian Center of Chicago. Admission $10-15.

Archery, Explore and More

All are invited to join us for a night of archery instruction and target practice, hiking and exploring, and nature games. Archery for ages 10 & up; other activities for all ages.

Juneteenth Celebration

Join us as we celebrate freedom, family, and country with our historical Underground Railroad program. Enjoy history displays, interactive interpretive hikes, traditional music, wild edibles, crafts and much more.

Green Lake Aquatic Center, 1100 River Oaks Drive, Calumet City
Head out to our summer concert series and participate in group jam sessions, learn about making instruments from natural and recycled materials and enjoy concerts by local musicians. Pre-activities start at 5:30 pm. Concert runs from 6:30 to 8 pm.

Photo Meet-Up
Saturday, June 27 * 10 am Sand Ridge Nature Center 15891 Paxton Ave, South Holland
Each month, one of our naturalists will lead a brief tour of a natural area, highlighting interesting plants, scenic vistas and locations frequented by wildlife. Capture images and share tips with fellow photographers. All cameras are suitable, from SLR to point-and-shoot to smart phone.

Bow Strings & Cliff Stairs

Sat., June 27 * 11 am - 2 pm

Swallow Cliff Stairs, 10267 Calumet Sag Rd, Palos Hills

Families, join us on a Saturday and exercise using the Swallow Cliff stairs, then learn about archery and take aim at our targets. And be sure to grab some snacks and check out our new comfort station.
