Assistant Cook County State's Attorney to Be Honored for Service to the Profession and the Bar Association

Monday, June 15, 2015
Chicago Tribune

Julie Ann Sebastian, an Assistant Cook County State's Attorney in the Civil Actions Bureau, will receive the 2015 Austin Fleming Newsletter Editor Award from the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) at the organization's 139th Annual Meeting on Friday, June 19, at the Grand Geneva Resort in Lake Geneva, Wis.

Sebastian is being recognized for her 13 years of service as co-editor of a monthly newsletter provided to members of the ISBA's Administrative Law Section Council. To date, she has produced a total of 122 newsletters and over 1,000 pages. The newsletters contain summaries of administrative law cases, legislation and practice tips. She solicits articles from other lawyers, but it is her editorial work that assures a quality publication. Her newsletters are consistently rated outstanding by readers.

Sebastian received the Illinois State Bar Association's "10-year service award" for her work as a co-editor of the ISBA Administrative Law newsletter previously, and has served as chair of the Administrative Law Section Council. She was elected to and serves on the ISBA's Assembly, the 201- member policy-making body of the Association, and was appointed vice-chair of the Standing Committee on Bar Services and Activities for the upcoming year. She is also an Illinois Bar Foundation Fellow and volunteers as a co-chair of the Foundation's 2015 GALA Program Book.

The 33,000-member ISBA (isba.org), with offices in Springfield and Chicago, provides professional services to Illinois lawyers, and education and services to the public through a website (illinoislawyerfinder.com), consumer brochures, and distribution of legal information.
