Forest Preserves of Cook County hosting Winter Camping Workshops
Attendees to learn basics of winter camping
With the Forest Preserves of Cook County’s recent opening of five new and revitalized campgrounds throughout the county, visitors and residents have been able to enjoy the wilderness of Cook County in a new way. While many campers may think camping is a three-season activity, there are numerous ways to enjoy a night under the stars during the winter season.
Forest Preserves staff is hosting two Winter Camping Workshop events to teach the public some of the basics of camping during the winter months. The family-friendly workshops will offer attendees tips on numerous activities including winter weather safety and layering, winter fire building and snow shelter building. In addition to learning winter camping basics, workshop attendees will also enjoy free winter nature activities and snowshoeing (conditions permitting).
