Annual event to include tree hikes, bird walk
The Forest Preserves of Cook County invites the public to discover the flora and fauna of the urban preserves with a special day of activities during the annual Nature Block Party on Saturday, May 14.
During the event, attendees can enjoy a variety of activities including bird walks, an insect petting zoo, bike rides, face painting and spear throwing, as well as restoration projects such as removing invasive plants and cleaning up litter.
“The Nature Block Party will offer a wide array of activities sure to excite everyone,” explained Timothy Mondl, program coordinator of Forest Preserves. “We are partnering with Wild Indigo, The Field Museum, University of Illinois Extension, Faith in Place, Illinois State Archeological Survey and the local site steward.”
Nature Block Party is free to attend, and will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Eggers Grove, 11201 S Ave B in Chicago.
