Forest Preserves of Cook County Winter Camping Reservations Now Open

Reserve cabins, campsites January 1 through March 31

Winter camping reservations for four of the Forest Preserves of Cook County new and revitalized campgrounds are now being accepted for January 1 through March 31.

Residents and visitors can enjoy camping at Camps Reinberg, Sullivan and Bullfrog Lake throughout winter; there is limited availability of heated cabins at some campgrounds in addition to tent camping and RVs. Camp Dan Beard in Northbrook will also be open for winter camping to large groups only.

While spending a night under the stars in Cook County in a tent, cabin, bunkhouse or RV, campers can enjoy numerous activities to immerse themselves in nature including hiking, biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and more on nearby trails; fishing, kayaking and canoeing at nearby water bodies; and more. There are also a variety of family-friendly special events hosted throughout the year. Visit the Forest Preserves’ online events calendar at fpdcc.com/events to learn more.

Camping reservations can be made online at fpdcc.com/camping-reservations; by phone at (855) YES-CAMP (937-2267); or in person at Forest Preserves General Headquarters, 536 N. Harlem in River Forest, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on business days. Reservations can also be made by calling Camp Sullivan, Camp Bullfrog Lake or Camp Reinberg directly during office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or on weekends when there are campers. Winter reservations for Camp Dan Beard must be made by phone. For campground contact information, visit fpdcc.com/camping.

Throughout winter, campers, as well as the public, can enjoy snowshowing at the campgrounds:

·Snowshoe Trekking Plus

Come out to these campgrounds (snow conditions permitting) and try our snowshoes for free. Open to the public, no registration required. There must be at least 4? of hard snow on the ground in order to snowshoe. Call the campground for snow conditions.
